Concourse uses fine-grained just-in-time locking. In laymen’s terms, this means we never do any more locking than necessary to guarantee consistency and we always hold off on acquiring locks until we are certain that the transaction can be safely committed. This enables us to guarantee all the ACID properties while maximizing transaction throughput.
